May God be praised as you use this book to study His orderly world. Matter, plants, and animals praise their Maker by unfailing obedience to the will of God. They fulfill God's will completely; they were not created with the ability to do otherwise.
"Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: Fire, and hail; snow, and vapors; stormy wind fulfilling his word: Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl" (Psalm 748:7-70).
Man was also created to praise his Creator. If God is not glorified by a man's word and life, then that man has failed to fulfill the reason for his creation. If God does not receive the glory from your study of His world, then your study is a failure in the sight of God no matter what grades you get on the tests. Praising God is not an automatic response for man the way it is for matter, plants, and animals. Man must choose to worship God. By thanksgiving for His goodness, by obedience to His Word, by faith in His salvation, and by witness to His truth, individuals put into action their decision to glorify God.
"Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven" (Psalm 148: 11-13).
This book is designed to direct your attention to the marvels of God's handiwork and to direct your life into a proper use of natural things. But you will be the one to decide how you will apply the teachings of this book to your life. A proud and mischievous spirit is selfish. Seek rather to have the combination of submission and diligence that helps you to live peaceably with your fellowmen and to bring glory to your Creator.
Book Two is the companion volume to Book One of Investigating God's Orderly World. Together they provide instructional material for study in basic areas of science. If you have already used Book One, you should be familiar with the general plan of the units.
Each unit is introduced with a full-page picture. Try to decide why the author cbose that particular photograph. Opposite each unit title page is another introductory page, which includes three sections. Searching for Truth relates the unit to some Scripture. Searching for Understanding can be used for stimulating thought at the beginning of the study as well as for review at the end. Searching for Meaning is your vocabulary list. Each word on this list is italicized where it is discussed in the text and is included in the Glossary. You should learn the spelling and definition of each word.
Each unit is divided into sections with Study Exercises for each section. In answering these questions, it is better to express the answers in your own words than to copy statements from the text. Be sure that you actually answer the question and not just give a statement related to the correct answer. The Additional Activities are offered as suggested projects to enrich your experience with God's orderly world.
The Review Exercises at the end of each unit are in two parts: Review of Vocabulary and Multiple Choice. The directions for doing each of these parts are included with Unit One. Remember, the purpose for studying science is to gain an understanding of the truth. Therefore, do not be satisfied simply to have something written down for each exercise.
